Solaray was established in 1987 as one of the first solar water heater companies in South Africa. In 2010, Solaray was joined by the former Managing Director of Shell Solar for Southern Africa, who transformed the company into a broadly based solar energy company covering Photovoltaic (PV) as well as Thermal applications.
During this time, Solaray developed a number of advanced products, including patented Solar Water Heaters, patented PV concentrator systems, solar module support structures, PV panel tracking systems, and differential temperature control systems for circulating water heating.
More recently, the company has developed a premier range of Solar PV and Solar Thermal Kits that are expertly designed, making it easier for customers to select the product that is best suited to their individual needs. They are also easy to install, and they have proved to be extremely popular.
Solaray has also focused on bringing its core strengths of system design, project management, and finance to bear on larger turnkey PV and Thermal installations in the sub-Sahara Africa region. This is a major growth area, as national electricity prices rise to a level that makes solar energy a natural economic alternative.
Solaray operates directly and in association with a number of highly respected South African and international Associates.
